Don’t do it. You would need to reposition the compressor because they will not run when turned sideways. Before moving the compressor you will need to have the system purged of refrigerant or you will release it into the atmosphere. After moving the compressor you will have to pressure test the condenser coils and have the system recharged. All this will cost nearly as much as buying a new freezer. If you buy a new freezer, then sell your upright you will have spent less than converting your old one. Another benefit of a new freezer is it will use less energy meaning more savings down the road.
